Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released in 1937 and was Walt Disney’s first full-length  animated feature film. A huge success, it was nominated for an Academy Award in 1938. Although, the film didn’t win, the following year Walt Disney was presented with a very unique honorary Oscar instead. One normal sized Oscar statue along with plus seven miniature Oscar statuettes!

Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was based on the original 1812 fairytale from the Brothers Grimm. However, the original story did not name the dwarfs, so Disney played around with names and the amount of dwarfs based on the Broadway play.
