Best Things to do in Orlando in June

Sharing is caring!

It’s time for Florida in June! There are many ways to enjoy the sun, fun, and the culture of this state.

With the blazing hot sun overhead and humid climate, visiting Orlando in June will really help you see firsthand why it’s called the Sunshine State, as well as all the reasons that make Orlando so fun! Enjoy a wide range of activities with your family at the Flower and Garden Festival at Disney’s Epcot Theme Park, or celebrate Father’s Day in style by giving dad the holiday he deserves.

Because most schools are on break in June, Orlando in summer is usually bustling with tourists, so you should plan your family vacation to the various theme parks well in advance. Decide when you would like to visit the more crowded places and plan out how you want to beat the crowds.

Our tip is to visit the more popular locations on days when they’re not as busy. For example, keeping an eye on the weather forecast for rainy days helps. Odds are these days will only consist of a few spells of sunny showers throughout the day, which means you don’t have to let them spoil your fun. Instead, plan your trip to account for these short bouts of rain and you will have an edge over other families who might have forgotten their umbrellas and raincoats at home!

This list of things to do in Orlando is a great way to explore some of the exciting Orlando activities you and your loved ones can enjoy on your vacation. From the last month of Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival, to free things to do in Orlando in June, we cover everything. There are events to enjoy for kids of all ages, families of all kinds, and budgets of every range, so don’t wait any longer – get planning!

EPCOT Flower festival Mickey and Minnie

Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival

Witness the Epcot Spring Flower Festival in full bloom in Orlando from the beginning of March to the beginning of July. What better way to celebrate this spectacle at Disney than with your family at Disney!

Every summer at Walt Disney World Orlando, the Epcot Theme Park organizes a four-month-long flower and garden show featuring an array of vibrant flowers. Discover spectacular topiaries of your favorite Disney characters, weave your way through the colorful flower beds, and discover exotic gardens that create lasting memories with their unforgettable fragrances.

Enjoy many bite-sized delicious food items along with some seasonal fresh drinks, like Froot Loops shakes for the little ones or a honey peach cobbler freeze with blueberry vodka for you. Pair the yummy eats with live musical performances at the park and dance the night away.

Explore a variety of food at the EPCOT festival with the food scavenger hunt, Garden Graze. Hop through the food booths and sample the listed items. Receive a stamp and get a complimentary food item at the next listed booth. It’s a delicious way to teach children about sustainable eating while experiencing an array of food.

There are educational exhibits and play areas for children to learn about flowers and gardening as well, such as Bambi’s Butterfly Garden. Drop by to learn all about the different species of butterflies. With a splash of Disney magic, this is one of those events in Orlando in June that is both educational and fun.

Electric Ocean at SeaWorld

Electric Ocean is coming back to SeaWorld Orlando this summer! Spend your day dancing away into the night as the 200-acre park lights up as the sun goes down. Enjoy your time with the family at Club Sea Glow, a nighttime dance party with neon lights, acrobats, a DJ, professional dancers, and puppeteers.

Participate in this ultimate family dance event running on select nights from May to September. You could also join Seaport Theatre, a daytime dance party with world-class DJs dishing out some peppy tunes.

Rescue Tails is one special event that helps warm kids up to the rescue-to-rehabilitation stories. Watch it feature some of the park’s rescue animals like birds, primates, and reptiles. The event provides kids with the unique opportunity of meeting and greeting some of these incredible animals, making for both an enjoyable and educational experience.

Elmo Rocks is another show your kids won’t want to miss. It showcases Elmo and his friends making their own band when their favorite band cancels their concert. Your kids will get to watch their favorite characters audition and rehearse before forming their rock ‘n’ roll band. It’s a fun-filled show that the kids will love. Especially when they get to take part in the audience participation portion of the show!

The magic begins at 10 p.m. with some gravity-defying aerial acts and dancers playing with fire! You’ll end the night on a bright and dazzling note with Ignite, a spectacular show full of fountains, lasers, and fireworks.

It’s truly a must-have experience so prepare yourselves for a long and eventful day organized by SeaWorld. It will be one of the most memorable additions to your trip!

Busch Gardens Summer Nights

World Oceans Day at the Central Florida Zoo

Celebrate our beautiful oceans at the Central Florida Zoo and get inspired to take action to protect marine life and their habitats. It makes for the perfect time to teach kids about the importance of protecting oceans while learning more about sustainable ways of living together.

Celebrated on the 11th of June, the zoo organizes many interactive games, activities, and crafts for you and the whole family. Take the opportunity to meet some ocean creatures up close and personal in the aquarium exhibits, like lionfish, eels, clownfish, and tangs.

Although this event is part of the general Zoo admission, additional fees may apply for certain activities.

Family Day: Outdoor Festival of The Arts

Spend your day in Orlando with the kids away from crowded theme parks and enjoy some local food, activities, live band performances, and shopping at the Outdoor Festival of Arts in Eatonville. Held on the first weekend in June, admission to this intimate event is free for all kids up to high school.

It’s a great event to take the kids for a lively and colorful time that is also steeped in history and meaning. With food trucks serving authentic food from various cultures and ethnicities, it serves as the perfect way for the kids to experience the culinary marvels of our diverse world.

The festival features live music performed by various artists of different genres like R&B, Old School, Caribbean, and neo-soul. There are also several arts and craft stalls spread across the park that kids will love. Tap along to some live music and support these vendors by visiting their shops. The festival has a dedicated kids’ zone to keep your younger ones busy with other kids their age.

Bite30

Bite30 is an event that is held in Orlando all throughout the month of June. It aims to highlight central Florida’s top local restaurants and chefs that make up the city’s culinary scene. Restaurants participating in the event offer prix fixe menus with multi-course dinners at a set price. This gives diners the chance to try multiple dishes on the restaurant’s menu for the low cost of a single entree or sometimes even less! Restaurants get to showcase their specialty dishes to the new customers attracted by their Bite30 menu, so it’s a win-win for everyone.

The best part is how simple it is! All you have to do is check out the listed restaurant menus on the website, pick the restaurant you want to try, and get eating! With no need for special cards or coupons, it’s the perfect opportunity to go restaurant-hopping through the city with the family and explore all the City Beautiful has to offer.

Carnival Liberty Cruise

There’s a reason why cruising in the summer is so popular despite the weather and the prices! With kids on summer break, there’s no need to worry about leaving to get back to school on time. Plus, the warm long days make it ideal for all the summer activities in Florida you can imagine…all while aboard a ship!

Kick off your vacation on the beaches of South Florida and book a Carnival Cruise from Fort Lauderdale. The seaside city is the second busiest cruise port, serving over 3 million passengers a year. Join fellow Carnival cruisers and enjoy the bustling seafront city filled with picturesque canals, powdery beaches, and endless shopping along the stylish Las Olas  Boulevard. Soak up the South Florida sun and enjoy the ocean breeze in your hair. The cruises from Fort Lauderdale are the ultimate warm-weather getaways!

The three-day-long cruise starts at Fort Lauderdale, sails to the Bahamas, and drops you back off at the starting point. The experience is packed with action and serves delicious foods from various food outlets, offers entertainment like live music, dance performances, and laughs at their famous comedy show by the Punchliners Comedy Club.

Apart from the pool deck, there are also three supervised youth spaces with activities, games, and other fun things to keep your kids busy on board too. So while you enjoy some relaxing time alone, your kids can hang out and have a play with other kids their age. Younger kids will enjoy visiting Dr. Seuss for storytime with interactive characters while the older ones will love riding down a 214-foot-long water slide!

CultureFest Orlando

CultureFest Orlando is an art and food festival that runs in central Florida in the third week of June. It features many live performances by a list of very talented rappers, dancers, and singers from all around the country.  Visit the outdoor art exhibit showcasing works done by local artists and curb your appetite the fastest and yummiest way possible with food trucks at the festival. Free things to do in Orlando in June

Take a stroll down The Promenade at Sunset Walk on a Saturday evening, one of the many free and low-key things to do in Orlando, Florida in June. Pair the music with some lip-smacking food from various eateries throughout the plaza, and enjoy a low-key evening with your loved ones. There is also a car and truck show on select Sundays where classic car and truck owners and even collectors come to showcase their vehicles – something the kids are sure to enjoy.

Another fun, free option for families in Orlando in June is to celebrate Halloween early and close the month off with a bang at the Summerween event at Ivanhoe Village. Dress up with the kids to “trick or treat” together. Visit local vendors at their stalls and get special discounts at several stores throughout the district, and participate in the special arts and crafts activities that are set up for children. Free for kids and only $5 for adults, it’s a memorable experience that’s affordable too. Don’t forget to take a picture at the photo booth to keep it in your hearts forever.

If you want something more laid back, why not pack some popcorn and literally “lay back” to watch a movie outdoors with the fam? There are two options for watching free nighttime movies under the stars in Florida.

Lake Eola Park hosts an outdoor movie night on the last Friday of the month from April to August at 6 p.m. Pack a picnic basket, some comfortable blankets, and watch a movie under the stars with the whole family. The event is pet-friendly so bring along all your fur babies as well.

Popcorn Flicks in the Park is held by the city of Winter Park and Maitland’s Enzian Theater every second Thursday of the month in Central Park. They screen family-friendly movies that begin just after sunset. Bring some snacks and beverages along but keep in mind that screenings are subject to weather changes, cancellations and rescheduling, so check their website before heading out.
