Easy Guide to the Disney World Multi Pass Lightning Lane Options
Hello, things have changed a lot with pre-booking rides. Now it’s the new Multi Pass- which replaces Genie + and you can no longer “stack” multiple rides like before. It’s very much like the old Fast Pass system but now you have to pay for it. This simple guide breaks it down for you as planning Disney is an event in itself!
Multi Pass lets you prebook up to 3 attractions in a single park per day and choose times, subject to availability and also gives you photo perks.
If you are with another group, don’t worry if you don’t snag exactly the same time. The return times do NOT have to be the same, but if you overlap, you’ll be able to join the queue during the time you both overlap – and ride together during as you have booked within the same window.
The price varies per park and fluctuates depending on demand and is usually from $18+tax per person, per day up to around $35+ tax per person per day. You can see what rides /times are available before you decide to purchase it – although these can and do change as people modify.
You can use the MultiPass (LLMP) on its own or with the Lightning Lane Single Pass (LLSP) The LLSP is for the MOST popular one or two rides at each park and comes at an additional cost. More on that below.
TIERS

Tiers only apply to prebooking.
With MultiPass, you have the option of Tier One rides (the most popular) and Tier Two, like the old Fast Pass system.
You can choose one Tier One and two Tier Two or 3 Tier Two when you pre-book.
- On site hotel guests, including those at the Swan, Dolphin, Reserve and Shades of Green can book 7 days in advance of their first day for up to 14 days maximum.
- Off site guests with a date based ticket, can book 3 days in advance of their first day and for the duration of their ticket validity.
- All other tickets e.g Annual Pass holders who are not WDW hotel guests can book 3 days prior to their park visit.
TOP TIP.
Don’t prebook a Tier 1 ride straight away. Book Tier 2 or Tier 3 rides with one being the least popular and at the earliest time available. aand scan and ride it asap. As soon as you have scanned onto this ride, then immediately book a high-demand Tier 1 ride with better availability.
Why do this? You effectively unlocking more Tier 1 options sooner than if you waited for your pre-booked Tier 1 slot. This frees up your time for other popular attractions and park hopping, using lower-priority rides as “placeholder” scans to trigger the next booking window. After scanning, your first ride the tiers “go away,” and you can immediately book a Tier 1 attraction
The guide below is printable and handy for you to print and plan.

At the parks
Once at the parks and after you have tapped into your first Multi Pass reserved ride, you can then:
- Book an additional Multi Pass ride at ANY park (great if you have a park hopper ticket)
- You can have 3 Multi Pass rides booked at any one time
- You can modify any of your Multi Pass reservations.
- Once you use a ride, you can book another right straight away – tiers do not apply anymore.
Lightning Lane Single Pass (LLSP)
The Lightning Lane Single Pass is for the most popular rides at each park. The prices fluctuate and start around $10 per ride depending on demand.
LLSP is for the MOST popular attractions and are not available on the Multi Pass. You can purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass entry for up to 2 different experiences per day – useful if park hopping.
Guests may purchase this option in advance (3 days off site guest or 7 days on site guest with or without the Multi Pass.
Each experience is below:
Magic Kingdom Park
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- TRON Lightcycle Run
EPCOT
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Hollywood Studios
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Animal Kingdom
- Avatar Flight of Passage
Good to know:
To use up to two LLSP you would currently need to Park Hop as each park only has one LLSP ride available. You cannot use 2 LLSP on the same ride.
Can Purchase Multi Pass as an add on or just use Standby for the rest of the rides.
Standby and Virtual Queues
You don’t have to purchase Multi Pass or Single Pass Lightning Lanes for ANY ride. This means you just pay what you paid for you ticket and need to queue in the Standby Lane.
Anybody can join the Standby line aka regular entrance for most *rides and there is no additional cost.
Virtual Queue for Tiana and Tron
However, two new rides have a different Standby system, where you join a Virtual Queue with a return slot time to join the Standby Queue.
You cannot join the Standby Line for these 3 rides UNLESS you have a time slot. These rides are Tiana Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom, and Tron at Magic Kingdom (If you have a Multi Pass or Single Pass for any of these two, then you would be in Lightning Lane line.)
The Virtual Queue works like this. On the day, at 7am at any location, you can try and secure a reservation. They go fast, so be ready with your phone set up, ready to click at 06:59. You will have a second chance at 1pm but this time you MUST be in the park of your chosen ride.

If you want the best chance at securing your preferred rides, booking in advance is recommended.
Modifying Lightning Lane Passes

- You can switch parks, but be prepared to pay the price difference if switching from a less expensive park to a more expensive one (e.g. Animal Kingdom to Magic Kingdom).

You can modify your rides on the day, subject to availability.
