How To Get a Free Call from Mickey Mouse and other Disney Characters

Sharing is caring!

Mickey Mouse and his friends have enchanted children for decades, which is why it’s no surprise that even today’s kids can’t seem to get enough of Disney’s Fabulous Five! Just imagine how your little one might react to an actual phone call from Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, or Pluto! Or even better, a video call? We think it’s one of the best surprises you can give your little Disney lover!

There are quite a few ways to get a free phone call from Mickey Mouse and his friends, and don’t worry, they are all entirely safe. The calls are not actually live, but pre-recorded, and the video calls are animated recordings that don’t even require you to have an active webcam.

So, keep reading to learn how you can add a fun little surprise to your kid’s birthday, nighttime routine, or Disney trip. Here’s our detailed guide on various methods to get a Mickey Mouse phone call – be it at a Walt Disney World Resort, a Disney cruise, or even at your own home.

Hotel Room at Disney World Resort

What’s a better way to get your vacation at the most magical place on earth started than with a magical phone call from one of your favorite Disney characters? That’s right. Guests who opt to stay at one of Disney’s resorts at Walt Disney World can request a complimentary wake-up call from one of their favorite characters!

To avail of this option, you can call the front desk and request a wake-up call. Alternatively, you will notice that your phone has a wake-up call button on it. Simply click on this button to get a friendly phone call from either Mickey or one of his friends, encouraging your little ones to wake up and set out for the day!

Wake-up calls are made at random by one of the characters among the Fabulous Five – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, or Goofy. This is great for little kids who don’t have favorites, as they’ll get to sleep and wake up excited to see which character they’ll receive a call from in the morning!

However, if your kid has a preference, we suggest turning the wake-up call into a “secret surprise” to avoid any disappointments, as there is no option to choose a character at present.

Disney is also developing a “magical companion” as a free perk for guests at their Disney Resorts. Activated when a guest says “Hey Disney”, it’s expected to be a lot like other voice-controlled assistance systems such as Alexa or Siri.

The soon-to-launch feature will allow you to request a wake-up message from Mickey and his friends directly! Make sure you check that out if you plan to visit Disney World and stay at one of its magical resorts.

Video Calls

Does it sometimes feel impossible to get your tot to do the smallest of things? Dealing with a fussy baby can be challenging, especially when you are trying to teach them something new, like potty training. Appreciating them for accomplishing every small milestone is the best way to keep them motivated, and even better if it’s their favorite Disney character that’s doing the congratulating!

Thanks to Huggies Pull-Ups, you can choose from a variety of pre-recorded messages by Disney characters to use to congratulate your little one after successfully completing a task. Take your pick from Mickey Mouse; Minnie Mouse; everyone’s favorite, Lightning Mcqueen; Rapunzel, if you’ve got a little prince or princess; or Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, if you’ve got an adventurous cowboy or space girl on your hands!

Minnie Mouse is one of the characters that could call your little one

All you have to do is get your virtual assistance system (Google, Alexa, or Siri) to call the character – “Ask Pull-Ups, Call Minnie Mouse.” Or, you can visit the website and pick from the list of characters. Click on “Call Now” for the animated recording to pop up, and watch as your kid is captivated by their beloved character talking to them on screen.

Every call starts with the character greeting your child and addressing them as a “big kid”. The endearing message provides a little boost of self-confidence when they’re trying to learn something new – and we all know what an accomplishment getting potty trained is!

At the end of the call, the character signs off by reminding your child that they will be there for them should they need them again. It truly is a fun and effective tool to use when helping your kid form a new habit!

Birthday Call

Guests staying at a Disney Resort can schedule a birthday call from Mickey Mouse or any other Disney character they choose by informing the front desk.

If you’re lucky, you might also be able to receive a birthday phone call from Mickey Mouse when you’re out exploring the various attractions at Walt Disney World.

Cast Members at gift shops have a secret number they can call to arrange a phone message from one of the characters in the shop. Just ask nicely, and you might be able to make your little one’s birthday at Disney that much more memorable!

Retail stores, such as Target, often offer free and schedulable birthday calls from Disney characters, including a Princess of your choice. However, these offers are known to come and go, so stay on the lookout during your child’s birthday month.

ShopDisney Phone Call

The ShopDisney Phone Call was a free Mickey or Minnie bedtime phone call that parents could sign up for after purchasing a party product from ShopDisney. This service has been activated and called off multiple times in the past.

As of now, this wholesome experience is suspended, which has broken the hearts of many toddlers and parents from all over. However, owing to its popularity, there is a high chance Disney will launch a new and improved version of these bedtime messages. Hopefully, the Fabulous Five will return!

When first launched, ShopDisney Phone Call was a favorite among kids, parents, and even hearing dogs who were trained to assist the deaf. Parents were able to decide on a date and time for the phone call and dial 1-877-7-MICKEY to choose from one of the five special messages by Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto.

Aside from bedtime greetings, the characters also gave friendly reminders to kids to be good, eat their veggies, stay healthy, brush their teeth, and more. However, we think it’s safe to say that Mickey’s very friendly “Hiya, pal!” or Goofy’s “race to who sleeps first!” was what kids looked forward to hearing the most!

Disney Cruise Line

Take your kids on a magical trip aboard a magical ship – yes, we’re talking about a Disney cruise! If you are setting sail on a luxurious Disney-themed cruise, then here’s a bonus for the little ones. With every booking, you can request two free welcome calls from Mickey, Goofy, or Minnie and Mickey together to set your family’s spirits soaring! The calls are available for residents of the USA, Canada (except Quebec) and the U.K.

To avail of this offer, pull up your reservation online and scroll down to the very bottom, where you will find an option called “character calls.” Select a character from the options shown, enter your phone number, and fix a time.

It’s as simple as that! You’ll have Captain Mickey, Goofy, or both Mickey and Minnie calling to welcome you before your trip!

Keep your cruise information and personal details ready when making your call reservation to ensure that your call sounds as personalized as possible. Also, make note of the caller ID, which will read (888) 333-7040. This is so that you don’t accidentally mistake your Disney character call for a spam call!
