Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf – All You Need To Know BEFORE You Go

Sharing is caring!

Orlando is mostly known for Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Florida. However, there are some other great family-friendly attractions dotted around the city that are a must-visit for both first-timers and seasoned Florida visitors.

Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf - All You Need To Know BEFORE You Go

One such attraction is the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf on IDrive. And let me tell you, even though my family and I have been to Orlando more times than I can count, we always make it a priority to enjoy a game or two of this scenic outdoor pirate-themed mini golf.

So, if you’re planning your next trip to Orlando and are looking for additional things to do in the city, then here is my full review of the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf course. Along with all the information you’ll need to have a fun and enjoyable experience.

Admission and Tickets

Before I get into the ticket prices, I just want to mention that the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf course consists of two 18-hole courses that are suitable for people of all ages.

If you’re short on time, you can choose to purchase tickets for just one course. However, if you’re really getting into the putt-putt fun, then you can instead take on all 36 holes.

Here is the ticket pricing for both course options:

  • 18 Hole Captains Course: Adult $16.95 + tax, Child* $14.95 + tax
  • 18 Hole Blackbeard’s Challenge: Adult $16.95 + tax, Child* $14.95 + tax
  • 36 Hole Adventure: Adult $27.50 + tax, Child* $25.50 + tax
  • Replay: $10.50 + tax

Course Theming

*Children: Ages 4 to 12 (ages three and under play free)

If you’ve ever driven down IDrive, then you may have already noticed the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf course. After all, it features a massive pirate ship and elaborate theming that is really hard to miss.

But if you’re new to the area and the golf course in particular, then let me delve into the two themed mini golf routes.

The first route is the Captain’s Course. And if you’re not a seasoned golfer, then I recommend starting with this one.

In general, Captain’s Course is the easier course of the two. However, it still provides a challenging yet fun experience regardless of your golfing capabilities.

The second course, Blackbeard’s Challenge, is slightly more advanced with more difficult holes. But if you’re just playing for fun, then players of all ages will still have an entertaining experience—even if you don’t putt any hole-in-ones.

Overall, the theming of the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf attraction is exactly what you’d expect. And the manicured gardens, along with the cascading waterfall, pirate ship, footbridges, and caves, really add to the fun and immerse you fully into the game.

Top tip: If you can sink a hole in one on the 16th or 17th hole, you’ll win a treasure! And by treasure, I mean a free game that you can redeem at any Pirate’s Cove location—yes, there are more than one!

Pirates Cove App

A new feature of Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf is the Pirate’s Cove app. And if you’re one of those people who hate keeping score on a traditional paper scorecard, then the app will be right up your alley.

The app has a handy feature that tallies the strokes of each player on all 36 holes. So you can say goodbye to carrying a paper and pencil around the courses with you.

Plus, to add even more family-friendly entertainment to your game, the app also dishes out pirate lore with some fun pirate themed facts.

Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf Staff

I normally wouldn’t mention the staff in a review unless I had a negative experience that could put others off going. However, the staff at the IDrive Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf only enhanced our time at the outdoor course. So, of course, they deserve a mention!

Although it is just a mini golf course and there isn’t really that much to the game, all the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. And they genuinely want you to have an enjoyable time using the golfing facilities.

Whether you need help deciding which course is right for you or which putter is suitable for each golfer, the staff are more than willing to assist you and do so with a smile on their faces.

How Accessible is the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf?

The Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf is a family-friendly scenic course. However, it isn’t accessible for both wheelchairs and strollers.

In order to add an extra level of entertainment, the course was designed to actually be an adventure—and a slightly challenging one at that. While navigating the 18 or 36 holes, you’ll find yourself crossing bridges, descending stairs, and working your way through caves in order to progress to the next putting green.

If you’re visiting Pirate’s Cove with young children, then be prepared to carry them or keep a watchful eye over them. However, if there is a wheelchair user in your party, then I wouldn’t recommend the course, as they’ll sadly be unable to participate.

Onsite Facilities

Alongside the two golf courses, Pirate’s Cove also has some additional facilities to add to your time at the attraction.

You’ll find toilets, an arcade, and a small picnic area. As well as vending machines with a selection of cold drinks that are well appreciated after a round of outdoor fun.

After playing a round of golf, why not head to one of these Orlando restaurants where kids eat for free?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf Suitable for All Ages?

Having completed both courses with my girls, who were aged as young as 7 and 10 at the time, I can honestly say that, yes, Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf is suitable for people of all ages.

The scenic courses do provide some challenging obstacles like slight incline walks and stairs. However, if all players are able to walk unassisted, then you should have no trouble making your way around the 36 holes.

Is Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf Expensive?

Considering you’re in Orlando, where pricing for entertainment is higher (it is a holiday destination, after all), I don’t think Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf is unreasonable.

You can expect to pay $16.95 + tax per adult and $14.95 + tax per child. However, players under three enter for free.

Are There Any Tips for Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf?

I’ve visited Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf many times over the years. So, of course, I’ve gained some tips and tricks along the way.

Here are some tips that will make your time even more enjoyable:

  • If you’re golfing with kids, I recommend visiting the course in the evening hours. Pirate’s Cove is an outdoor experience. And although there are some shaded areas, for the most part, you’ll be in direct sunlight.
  • I also recommend packing bottles of water as although there are vending machines on site, we all know that vending machine drinks can be expensive.
  • Try and score a hole in one on the 16th or 17th hole. By scoring a hole-in-one on either of these holes, you’ll receive a treasure that permits you to one free game at any Pirate’s Cove course!
  • Wear suitable footwear—trust me, there will be a number of times you’ll be glad you did! You’ll also want to pack a sunhat, sunglasses, and suncream.
