1. Cabana Bay Beach Resort by Universal 3*

We love staying here for so many reasons. By staying at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort you not only have a lazy river with tropical plants and waterfall features, but two massive pools, and a bowling alley onsite. The pools have a beach area with buckets and spades and a water play area plus a waterslide. It is one of the best value family resorts near Universal Studios (Orlando.)

For the evening, big screens are rolled out with an adult and family movie put on. Fire-pits are lit and S’mores packs are ready to purchase in the main dining area which we made use of and settled around one of the cozy firepits.

Our family made use of the onsite bowling alley and also ate a meal there as well as the main dining area.

Only a short-6 minute walk from Universal’s Volcano bay water park,  the Cabana Bay Beach Resort has a retro 1950’s beach vibe with flat-screen TVs in the rooms.

3. Grove Resort and Spa Orlando

Looking for kid friendly hotels in Orlando, fl? Then this one may just meet all your requirements if you don’t mind being a little further out from the parks. We have stayed here twice, but preferred our first visit as our room was closer to the pools and everything was new. On our second visit we were miles ways near reception, and things were missing in the kitchen. But the room sizes are incredible!

The Grove Resort Orlando is a great option for larger families and those who want lots of room facilities and space. This hotel is also one of the Orlando resorts with a lazy river and water slides which are great for summer weather.

The onsite Surfari waterpark has the all important fun lazy river and tubes, sandy beach areas, several pools, a boating lake with swan boats, modern, fully equipped apartments/condo style, an onsite restaurant, wifi.

You can choose between one, two and three bedroomed suites, which either have an ensuite or bathroom nearby.  We enjoyed our first stay here as we were located near the pools which made it one of our favorite Orlando resorts for kids.

However, a second visit put us at the furthest building away, which meant a myriad of corridors to get from room to pool and car etc. So do ask for a room nearer the pools. The apartments have great facilities, including a full kitchen with washer/dryer making it easier for families.

The hotel is a little bit further out from the parks and doesn’t have a great choice in restaurants – but if you plan to have some rest days and explore more of Orlando, then it’s a good base with plenty to do on site and other restaurants are close by if you would rather not self cater. 5. Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace

This was a convenient hotel for us to stay in, with good room choices and family facilities. There are plenty of family accommodation options here, from rooms with double queen beds to Tower Suites which can sleep to 6-8 and Deluxe tower suites can sleep between 4-6. Island suites offer more space and pool access. Rooms have a small fridge and microwave. In the lobby you can rent DVDs and find the the food court with plenty of breakfast choices if you are heading to the parks early.

Like many, this hotel offers free shuttles to Disney World and Universal too. The huge draw for our family was the lazy river and that the hotel is walking distance to Disney Springs.

7. Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort

This complex appealed to us with good room sizes and suites and excellent onsite faciltiies. The Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort sits adjacent to the Walt Disney World Resort and has one to four-bedroom suites that can sleep up to twelve guests.

The hotel is nestled within woodlands and part of the Bonnet Creek Resorts area. The resort is surrounded on each side by the Walt Disney World® Resort and is just off Epcot Drive, providing easy access to Interstate 4 and the Osceola Parkway.

The room services and staff on this hotel has a rating of 9.1, so you are almost guaranteed an excellent service should you decide to stay with them like we did.

They have a whole snack bar, regular bar for adults and Luggage storage at reception. I loved the fact that its situated almost at the centre of everything we planned on doing on our trip. It is 1.8 km to Disney’s Boardwalk, 10km to SeaWorld Orlando.

If you are looking for Orlando vacation rentals with a lazy river, then you are in luck. There are several properties at this resort: timeshare/vacation ownership (can be booked similar to hotel; and a hotel type property.

Some rooms have a mini fridge, bunk beds for kids and a coffee machine. The timeshare units have full kitchens which allows you to bring groceries.

We opted for a two bedroom suite with the girls in a queen bed each with separate bathroom and we had the master bedroom.

Step outside to discover a mini-golf course which my youngest daughter loved, volleyball court and an indoor game room with a video arcade.

There are some activities for kids including games, face painting etc. All making it a great contender for one of the best hotels for families in Orlando. 10. Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

We’ve stayed here twice now, although friends of ours stay here everytime! This resort sits on 1,500 lush acres with a private lake, tennis courts, pickleball, bike riding, and a unique lagoon-style pool.

Our kids love the pool’s swim-through cave, water slide and complimentary bikes and rock climbing. Pickleball and kayaking and canoeing is also available.

Adults: tee off at the Jack Nicklaus Signature designed golf course or unwind at the spa. King Rooms sleep a family of 4.

Alternatively, do what we did, and have a room with one king bed and a sofa bed. The Hyatt organised a fold out bed too, meaning that our kids each had their own bed which stopped any arguments!
