Orlando is full of great hotels, but one of our favourites is the World Center Marriott. Not only is the World Center Marriott just 1.5 miles from Walt Disney World and a short distance from Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and the Orlando International Airport, but it also has its very own waterpark, which was a huge hit with our kids.
Having visited Orlando countless times as a family, we’ve stayed in various different accommodation types all over the city. From staying on Disney and Universal properties to off-site hotels and private villas, we’ve really done it all. And each accommodation type definitely has its mentionable benefits and downfalls.
To help with one of the most crucial parts of your holiday booking process, I’ve put together this tried and tested review of the World Center Marriott so you can get an idea of whether it’s the right Orlando accommodation option for you.

There are a few different room types to choose from at the World Center Marriott. But regardless of which room you choose, you’ll be greeted with a large, modern space that is equipped with comfy beds, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a bathtub and a private balcony.
During our stay at the World Center Marriott, we opted for a queen room with two queen beds, and we found that it was the perfect size for our family of four.
Orlando isn’t one of those holidays/vacations where you’re spending lots of time in your room as you’re always out at the parks, in the swimming pool, or enjoying the rest of the city’s entertainment. So a standard room with basic amenities is really all you need.
If you do want a bit more space, or if you have little ones who will need a nap during the day, then the WCM also has suites with a separate living area.
You can check the Booking.com website for more information on the rooms at the World Center Marriott.
Restaurants at the World Center Marriott
One huge perk of staying at the World Center Marriott is the onsite restaurants—and there are a few different ones to choose from!
Firstly, there is the Mikado Japanese Steak House, which is a hibachi-style restaurant where the chef cooks up your food right in front of you. If you’ve never done a hibachi dinner with your kids, I highly suggest doing so, as it’s not every day a chef flings food into your mouth, is it?
The second restaurant at the World Center Marriott is Siro Urban Italian Kitchen, which serves standard Italian dishes like pizza, pasta, and various meat dishes.
If you’re a family of sports fans, then the High-Velocity sports bar will definitely be the food spot for you as you can watch the games on the big screen while chowing down on burgers, wings, and hot dogs. It really doesn’t get more American than that.
And if you’re after something light of an evening, then the Lobby Bar, which specialises in sushi and small plates, is exactly what you’ll need.
Mikado Japanese Steak House, Siro Urban Italian Kitchen, High Velocity, and the Lobby Bar are only open for dinner. However, the WCM has a few breakfast and lunch spots if you’re spending the morning at the hotel.
Breakfast and Lunch
One restaurant open for both breakfast and lunch is the Latitude & Longitude signature hotel restaurant, which has both a buffet and a la carte menu. Buffets are always a winner when holidaying with kids, as your little ones can pick and choose exactly what they want, and fussy eaters are well catered for with cereals, toast, and a pastry or two.
For families spending the morning or afternoon by the pool, the Falls Pool Bar & Grill, which is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., has an extensive grill menu with burgers, salads, and light bites to choose from.
And onsite, you’ll also find a Starbucks location and the Central Pantry restaurant, which has grab-and-go salads, baked goods, and sandwiches, which are great to take to the parks or on your day out in Orlando.
We found that the food options at the World Center Marriot were excellent and great for families who need something easy and accessible. For us, the buffet breakfast, in particular, was one of our favourites as it meant you could grab something to eat before beginning your day at Disney or Universal Studios.
Amenities at the World Center Marriott
As there are so many hotels to choose from in Orlando, you’re probably wondering what makes the World Center Marriot stand out above the rest. And well, its amenities truly place it as one of the best family hotels in the Orlando area.
Orlando World Center Marriott Water Park
The reason why we booked the World Center Marriot was because of its onsite water park, the River Falls Water Park. Boasting three multi-rider tube waterslides, three plunging body slides, a relaxing 575-foot long lazy river, and a kids splash zone, children of all ages can enjoy their time in the water at what Forbes voted as the “Best Water Park Hotel in Orlando.”
Only children over 48” can ride the waterslides as there are some drops, turns, and twists. But my kids absolutely loved the slides, and getting them off of them required some serious persuading.
Orlando World Center Marriott Pool
If waterslides aren’t your thing, however, then the World Center Marriott also has a zero entry lagoon style pool with cabanas and sun loungers lining the water’s edge.
Orlando World Center Marriott Shuttle
For families staying at the World Center Marriot to be close to Walt Disney World, then you’ll be happy to know that the hotel offers a free shuttle service to all four parks and to Disney Springs.
There are various shuttle time slots throughout the day. However, it’s best to check the World Center Marriott website to confirm and reserve your spot on the bus.
I personally find that shuttles really take the stress out of getting to and from Disney. Plus, as the shuttle is free, you aren’t wasting money on parking (roughly $30 per day) or Uber rides.
My kids absolutely loved the laser light show that lasts for 10 minutes every evening over the hotel’s main swimming pool. You can watch the laser show from your balcony (if you have a laser show view room) or from the poolside. And the lights and the music really end your evening in the most unique way possible.
The Spa at World Center Marriott
If you’ve put your kids into the kids club for a few hours and feel like you deserve some real relaxation after the mayhem that comes with theme parks and holidaying as a family, then the Spa at the World Center Marriott will be calling your name.
The Spa offers everything from massages and facials to nails and waxing, so you can treat yourself to your favourite treatment and forget about all the hustle and bustle for just a moment or two.
Hawk’s Landing Golf Club
While Mum gets a facial, what can Dad do? Well, he can golf at the 18-hole championship Hawk’s Landing Golf Course.
I personally don’t know much about golf. But the course spans 6,200 yards and has a par-70 layout, making it one of the best golf resorts in all of Orlando.
Activities for Kids
Aside from the incredible water park, splash zone, and pool that will keep your kids entertained for hours on end, the World Center Marriott also has activities for kids. The schedule does change week by week. But your little one can get involved with crafts, sports, party games, and trivia.
There is also a kids’ club and movie nights on certain nights throughout the week. You can find the activity schedule on the World Center Marriott website.
Pros of the World Center Marriott
After staying at the World Center Marriott Orlando, here are some of the pros of the hotel that really made our holiday one to remember.
- Having the onsite water park means you can have a chill day at the hotel without worrying about your kids getting bored.
- The rooms at the World Center Marriott were spacious, modern, and comfortable.
- With so many activities going on, our kids were always entertained, and we never felt stuck for things to do.
- The World Center Marriotts location couldn’t be better as you’re close to all of Orlando’s major attractions.
- The hotel’s shuttle service helped us save hundreds of dollars in parking and on Ubers.
- There are so many restaurants onsite, so you don’t have to venture out of the hotel for food if you don’t want to.
- My kids really enjoyed the nightly laser show, and it was a unique experience that we hadn’t seen anywhere else.
- The staff were really friendly and were always happy to help if we had any problems or questions.
Cons of the World Center Marriott
And also, our stay at the hotel was great—one we’d definitely do again—but there were a couple of negatives that I want to point out.
- The World Center Marriott is fairly expensive. But that’s somewhat expected for a four-star resort with an onsite water park.
- It is a large resort, so don’t expect a quiet and relaxing stay, especially if you’re visiting as a couple.
- You need to pay for Wi-Fi if you want an internet connection in your room.
